Communities

Downtown

There are many distinct neighborhoods, communities and districts in the Fort Worth area. One of the more famous is the Sundance District, named for the Sundance Kid. Featuring restaurants, nightclubs, theatres, and museums that bring visitors to the area, it’s literally an entertainment district.

The Sundance District is part of Downtown. The Bass Hall (home to theatre, symphony and more) and the Fort Worth Convention Center are among the notable downtown attractions.

From the beginning, the stockyards have been an important part of Fort Worth. Today, the Historic Stockyards District brings in more tourists than livestock. Visitors to this part of the city have the option of two of the area’s biggest country attractions – Billy Bob’s is home of the world’s largest country and western music venue and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame located in what was once the stockyard mulebarn.

The Parks District is also noted as a “must see” for visitors. From botanical gardens to the Fort Wroth Zoo, there’s many attractions here for the entire family.

There are dozens of neighborhoods, many in the form of subdivisions. Zoning has become an important way for the city to help these neighborhoods maintain their individuality. From Admiral’s Point to Zeloski Heights, many of the neighborhoods have strictly single-family zoning requirements. In some cases, ethnicity defines the neighborhoods, though it’s more often a case of social standing.
